In the hustle and bustle of daily life, particularly as a woman over 40, it’s easy to prioritize other things rather than our own needs. Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential for your confidence, and living a better life. 


Trust me, I understand how difficult it is juggling my career pursuits, spending time with my loved ones, and other personal responsibilities. Many of us neglect the most crucial component of our well-being: Self-Care!


I strongly believe in caring for your body, as it’s the only place you have to live!

Self-care means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve your physical and mental health. 


In this blog, we’ll explore practical tips for incorporating Self-care into your packed schedule as a busy woman over 40!

Understanding Self-Care

Self-care is the deliberate action or activity to take care of our mental, emotional, or physical health. It’s often overlooked and neglected due to time constraints and lack of understanding. Self-care is essential for improving your mood, boosting your confidence, feeling amazing, and living a much better life!


Self-care is crucial for many reasons but here are my top 3:

Regular self-care habits enhance your confidence, feelings of self-worth, and appreciation of yourself. By prioritizing self-care and your health, your happiness and overall self-esteem will be boosted.


  1. Improves Physical and Mental Health


Self-care routines significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, activities you enjoy that are also physical are so beneficial for your health and fitness. 


How To Incorporate Self-Care Into Your Busy Schedule


Make It Non-Negotiable 


Schedule your workouts like crucial appointments, self-care should have a non-negotiable place in your schedule no matter how busy you are! 


Whether it’s a live class, a daily 15-minute meditation, or a lovely walk. It should be scheduled and respected.


Start Simple 


You don’t have to spend hours in the gym or overcommit yourself to extremely long workouts to feel the benefits of self-care. It doesn’t have to be time-consuming! Begin with small daily actions, consider integrating short walks during lunch breaks, or schedule time in your day for just 20 minutes. 


Here’s the thing… small daily actions can lead to huge rewards over time. 


Remember “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” meaning you can't go a thousand miles without taking your first step. Start simple and small, and soon you’ll notice the benefits.


Establish Boundaries 


Setting clear boundaries is crucial for effective self-care. This means refusing tasks and turning down requests that don’t align with your goals and true values. 


By having clear boundaries you ensure that you don’t get overwhelmed, and you aren’t overcommitting yourself to things that may conflict with your self-care. You don’t need to overcrowd your schedule even more. Remember, saying no can be a profound act of self-care.

Consider joining groups or classes (maybe even online classes) that align with your interests.
